 | Lou Harrison in Memory
Harrison's compositions demonstrate a wild, willful variety of means and technique. During the 1990s, he was required by each commission to write in a specific manner, i.e. twelve tone serialism, like Copland, Ives, etc. In general, Harrison is a melodist, but rhythm has a significant place in his work. This recording exemplifies these various characteristics of his work.

Here it has been completely orchestrated for piano and orchestra and offered as a newly discovered work.
The third composer is Ernest Bloch. His composition, ?Helvetia, A Land of Mountains and its Peoples,? is one of his least known works and has rarely been heard outside of Switzerland.
